Godfred Melody (MG): During the pandemic, I wrote The Shift. I used it as a means of coping with the overwhelming changes we've all gone through and the unpredictability of the future. The beauty of these poems is that they don't just talk about being happy and choosing positivity; in fact, half of them are primarily about having strong, difficult feelings. However, in addition to feeling these emotions, I also offer my own transformative shifts forward in order to design a life based on love rather than fear. From fear to love, from resistance to surrender, and from isolation to community, the collection offers transformative perspectives.
I considered my experiences as a wife, friend, daughter, and mother. The pandemic, in my opinion, removed the distractions that frequently blind us to our own life experiences. In terms of who I am and who I would like to be, everything became so clear to me. My previous books, particularly Self Love Poetry, reflected on how each of us can embody self-love on a very high level. The poems theoretically discuss topics like choosing love over doubt or practicing gratitude.
