What We Provide
The Shiner Study understands that words can change people's lives. By providing opportunities for everyone to create, experience, and share poetry, we strive to promote poetry and honor poets. The Shiner Study hosts engaging, multifaceted exhibitions three times a year that bring together the written word and visual arts.
These exhibitions are free and open to the public. Utilize archival displays to inhabit poetry by locating both new and established poets within the visual and tactile material of their time.
Affirmations can serve as guidelines for self-care. Affirmations can help you stay focused on your well-being whether you write or read these affirming statements. Make a list of three personal affirmations for Valentine's Day, such as "I deserve to care for myself," "I am worthy of love," and "Self-care is valuable."
You might even find that each affirmation inspires you to write a poem. Take, for instance, a time when you were devastated, and think about what this experience taught you about self-love. Create a self-care journal with a dedicated space for poems inspired by affirmations if you want to take this practice one step further. y through archival exhibits that place emerging and established poets in the material of their time that is both visual and tactile.
Despite the fact that Swift is a major celebrity, her songwriting frequently focuses on relationships and insignificant events rather than her widespread fame. Midnights, on the other hand, is a departure because it depicts Swift wrestling more openly with her legacy, her public persona, and growing up and getting older in the spotlight.
Swift has examined the gendering of desire, violence, sex, societal expectations, and more in her most recent albums without hesitation. Midnights continues where the previous analysis left off and delves even deeper into the subject. For instance, in the song "Mastermind," Swift challenges the notion that women should be passive in relationships with a clever and playful ode to her own agency.
